CHILDREN RUN FOR DANIEL TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CHILD SAFETY
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation and School Fun-Run will Launch Day for Daniel Fun Run 2019 on Tuesday 30th April at Tamborine Mountain College.

Last year Tamborine Mountain College raised $17,368 at their Day for Daniel Fun Run. Bruce and Denise are visiting the College to personally thank them for their contribution and to deliver a child safety presentation.

Mark Stevens, Head of Primary at Tamborine Mountain College, said "Tamborine Mountain College was overwhelmed by the fundraising efforts of our students last year and the support from our families. Our little primary school not only raised a substantial amount of money for this inspiration charity, we used the event to further focus out students' awareness on their own safety and strategies to use if they ever feel unsafe. We are proud to host the launch of the 2019 Day for Daniel Fun Run."

Overall 10,000 students in 36 schools across Australia participated in Day for Daniel Fun Run 2018 raising over $95,000.

"We are once again thrilled to partner with School Fun Run as yet another way of raising awareness and funds through the Day for Daniel Fun-Run on Day for Daniel," said Denise Morcombe.

Bruce and Denise Morcombe will be available for Media Opportunities at Tamborine Mountain College at 8.45am. The thank you, launch and child safety presentation will take place from 9.00am.

The 2nd Day for Daniel Fun Run will be held on Friday, October 25 with the goal of increasing awareness of child safety within Australian schools and raising money for the cause.

Schools are invited to host their own Fun-Run on Day for Daniel, the national day of action to raise awareness of child safety. Day for Daniel was created by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and the community is asked to wear red, talk about child safety and raise funding for the cause.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was created in 2005 by Bruce and Denise Morcombe after their 13 year-old son Daniel was abducted from a Sunshine Coast bus stop in 2003. Since creating the Foundation, Daniel's parents have worked tirelessly to provide Australian children with the education, protection and support to be safe from abuse and risk of harm. The Foundation aims to remember Daniel's legacy and assisting young victims of crime.

School Fun Run Program Director Brendan Hopp said the partnership will enable School Fun Run to direct funds to a worthy foundation in the Australian community.

"School Fun Run is proud to unite with such an important cause and to help a Foundation that is instrumental in protecting and educating our children about their personal safety.

Australian schools are encouraged to call 1800 FUN RUN (386 786) to register their school. Schools will be provided sponsorship material to promote the event and to raise awareness of child safety messaging prior to the event day.
