Some noted Achievements to date.
Child Safety Education
- Day For Daniel which incorporates our Walk For Daniel. Both of these events are designed to make the 31st of October each year
a National day of significance. Huge numbers of schools, families and businesses take part to show that Child Safety Education is
important with practical, conscious lessons for the target age group. It is a ‘fun’ day with a ‘serious’ message. In 2008 around
250,000 school age children are expected to participate in Day for Daniel.
- Production of our ‘Day for Daniel” TV advertisement.
- Production of our child safety DVD “Foundation Red”.
- Almost 10,000 copies of our DVD supplied free of charge to schools, community groups and general public.
- Production (with partners) of an interactive internet based animated program on keeping children safe. Stage 1 release Feb
2009. Stage 2 Feb 2011.
- Denise and Bruce visit schools to introduce the DVD and talk to students.
- Major sponsor of an educational Puppet Show (No Strings Attached) to be shown in Queensland schools targeting students
aged 5 to 8 year old.
- Establishment of a “Kids Club” on our website. When complete this will carry information about Protective Behaviours for
Children, Teachers and Parents.
- Active support to Children’s Week launch in Queensland each year.
- Active support to Child Protection Week each year.
- Active support of Missing Persons Week each year.
- $10,000 donation to the One Punch Can Kill dvd.
Support to Young Victims Of Crime
- Financial support to Laurel House and Laurel Place (sexual abuse counselling facilities) for the supply of additional resources
outside government budget provisions.
- Financial support to QHSVG (Queensland Homicide Support Victims Group) children within the KIN (Kids In Need) Program guidelines.
- Payment of numerous students school fees, school books and sports activities’.
- Reimbursements of numerous families travel expanses to counselling.
- Family holiday to the Gold Coast and Theme Parks.
- Accommodation assistance for a family during a child’s medical rehabilitation, Speech therapy for a young boy, Counselling to
numerous family members after a murder.
- Various donated items to young victims: Moto X Bike, BMX Bike, Drum Kit, Drum Lessons, Singing Lessons, Trip to New Zealand
as part of a school excursion, trip to Canberra as part of a school excursion, Dog as a companion, Computers for study.
- Children’s Interview Room make-over at the Maroochydore Police Station.
- Household furniture including curtains and new beds for young victims and more ….
Continuing the Search For Daniel
- Our Website has been completely redesigned. All available information released by the Queensland
Police Service has been included and made much simpler to find.
- Media outlets continue to carry information about the Daniel’s Case on a regular basis.
- Events are staged throughout the year which generate National media exposure including TV. This stimulates public comment
and observations plus raises vital funds for the Foundation at the same time. These events include; Day for Daniel, Walk for Daniel,
Ride for Daniel (now recognised as Australia’s largest charity motorcycle ride of its type) and Dance for Daniel.
